Jennifer Aniston celebrated her 50th birthday over the weekend with a star-studded party that included George and Amal Clooney, Courteney Cox, Kate Hudson, Gwyneth Paltrow, and a surprise appearance from her ex-husband, Brad Pitt.
And in further proof that the Friends star maintains good relationships with her exes, her other ex-husband, Justin Theroux, took to Instagram to send her birthday wishes.
“Happy Birthday to this fierce Woman,” the 47-year-old actor and screenwriter wrote. “Fiercely loving. Fiercely kind. ….and fiercely funny. ❤️ you B.”
Several celebrities commented on Theroux’s post.
“The GOAT,” wrote comedian Whitney Cummings with a medal emoji, while Laura Dern left four red hearts.
Aniston and Theroux started dating in 2011 and were married in a low-key ceremony at their home in 2015. They separated at the end of 2017.
“In an effort to reduce any further speculation, we have decided to announce our separation,” they said in the statement in February 2018. “This decision was mutual and lovingly made at the end of last year. We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship.”
Following the shock breakup, Theroux broke his silence on their split in a September 2018 interview with The New York Times, reiterating how “amicable” it was.
“The good news is that was probably the most — I’m choosing my words really carefully — it was kind of the most gentle separation, in that there was no animosity,” he explained.
“Again, neither one of us is dead, neither one of us is looking to throw hatchets at each other,” he continued. “It’s more like, it’s amicable. It’s boring, but, you know, we respected each other enough that it was as painless as it could be.”
It’s unknown if Theroux was at Aniston’s birthday bash on the weekend — her real birthday was yesterday, February 11 — but based on the social media posts shared by Hudson, Paltrow and more, it looked like a ball.
